O Porriño
Camino de Santiago stage town on Camino Portugués
O Porriño is the first full stage into Galicia after Tui: about 16 km, almost flat, ending in a working industrial town best known for its pink granite quarries. Pilgrims reach it either by the official line through the As Gándaras industrial zone or, after Orbenlle, by a well-marked natural variant along the Louro river that avoids asphalt. The town's own character comes from architect Antonio Palacios, born here in 1874: his Palacio Municipal (1924), the Fonte do Cristo and the San Luis templete sit close to the Camino. The Xunta albergue is on Avenida Buenos Aires near the end of the riverside variant, with several private hostels nearby, and shops, pharmacies and ATMs make it an easy resupply.
