Santiago de Compostela → Negreira
A stage of the Finisterre–Muxía
After reaching Santiago de Compostela, many pilgrims continue westward on the Finisterre–Muxía route, following an old tradition of walking to the Atlantic coast. This first 20-kilometre stage leaves the cathedral city behind on a moderate, rolling path — 152 metres up and 202 metres down — through Galician woodland and rural lanes to Negreira, a quiet market town that marks the point where the landscape begins its gradual shift toward the wilder Costa da Morte.
