Astorga → Foncebadón
A stage of the Camino Francés
Leaving the Roman walls of Astorga behind, this 25-kilometre stage on the Camino Francés begins a relentless 571-metre climb into the Montes de León toward the near-abandoned village of Foncebadón. The path rises steadily through the stone villages of the Maragatería region, past chestnut groves and bracken moorland, with virtually no descent — a genuine test of stamina before the high pass ahead.
