Castrojeriz → Frómista
A stage of the Camino Francés
This 24.7 km Camino Francés stage opens with the steep climb and descent of the Alto de Mostelares — a short but sharp ascent that breaks the flat meseta pattern — before the route levels out across the Tierra de Campos into Palencia province. The descent off the alto and the long flat approach to Frómista account for the modest total elevation figures of 150 m up and 172 m down. Frómista is notable for the Romanesque church of San Martín, considered one of the finest examples of the style in Spain.
