The challenging 30.7 km stage from Gernika to Bilbao is the most demanding on this section of the Camino del Norte, with 489 m of ascent and 474 m of descent through the industrial-green landscape of Biscay. The route climbs in and out of several valleys before the path finally descends into Bilbao, where the Guggenheim Museum and the historic old quarter reward tired walkers.
