Grandas de Salime → A Fonsagrada
A stage of the Camino Primitivo
This 25-kilometre stage on the Camino Primitivo crosses one of the most significant thresholds of the entire route: the border between Asturias and Galicia. The crossing involves a demanding 686-metre climb — often over exposed ridges that can be cold and misty — before the path descends to A Fonsagrada, the first notable town in Galicia and a welcome stopping point with good pilgrim services. The landscape shifts here, with eucalyptus and pine mixing with the oak and chestnut of Asturias.
