A Guarda
Camino de Santiago stage town on Portugués Coastal
A Guarda is the first Galician town on the Coastal route for pilgrims who cross the Minho by ferry from Caminha, set near the river's mouth on the Atlantic. It is a working fishing port with seafood restaurants, and it is known for Monte Santa Trega, a hill above the town crowned by an ancient hillfort (castro) with sweeping views over the estuary and coast. Pilgrims pause here for the crossing, the harbour atmosphere, and the climb to the castro.
