Camino de Santiago stage town on Camino Primitivo
Oviedo, the capital of Asturias, is the traditional starting point of the Camino Primitivo, considered the oldest of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago. Its historic old town and cathedral draw pilgrims before they set out, and the city offers full services, accommodation and a pilgrim albergue. Many walkers begin here to follow the original route through the Asturian mountains.
