Belorado
Camino de Santiago stage town on Camino Francés
Belorado is a historic town in the east of Burgos province, about 539 km from Santiago and one of the first Castilian towns pilgrims reach after leaving La Rioja. Set at the foot of the Montes de Oca in the Sierra de la Demanda, it grew wealthy on the medieval Camino — in 1116 Alfonso I granted it what is considered the oldest documented fair in Spain. Its arcaded Plaza Mayor, churches and albergues make it the classic last rest before the wooded climb over the Montes de Oca.
